Missionary Update
Spencer with his companion, Elder Heap , who is also headed for Fiji in December. Spencer reports that all is well at the MTC. He is working hard to learn the language and is making progress. He can basically understand when someone speaks Fijian, although he still struggles with a response in the same language.
Halloween Night
Our crazy neighbors, Troy Johnson and his son Austin, were the highlight of the neighborhood fun. Halloween is Troy's favorite holiday and so he goes full steam!! This year he dressed as a mad doctor and Austin played the role of the unfortunate patient.
The trick-or-treaters had to approach the mad doctor's surgical table where he unveiled his gruesome deed. The children were then required to select a piece of candy, if they dared. Many times they were surprised to find the patient was still alive.
The pair wanted to make this scene as authentic as possible, so in the morning they went to the local meat market and purchased cow and animal guts. They then smeared the stinky stuff all over Austin to make the whole thing appear very realistic. Although, the strong odor from the animal innards made Austin quite ill and the duo was forced to use fake blood and guts - very disappointing, but Austin is feeling much better. It made for a really fun evening. We could hear the screams from little trick-or-treaters all night long!!
