MTC Shenanigans

Spencer seems to be enjoying the MTC and all of the little shenanigans that Elders seem to create. This is a picture of Elder Muntar testing his strength.

Spencer using the lightsaver as part of his missionary tools - go figure!! This may be helpful with the Jaredite/Brother of Jared story.

Elder Lewenelovi is a good friend --very friendly and fun. He is from a Fijian island named Taviuni and he has helped Spencer with the Fijian language. Lewenelovi left for San Francisco two weeks ago where he will serve for the next two years.
One last photo before Lewenelovi leaves for San Francisco.

Missionary Update

Spencer and a group from his district.
Spencer and Elder Cahogen who both talk in their sleep.

Spencer with his companion, Elder Heap , who is also headed for Fiji in December. Spencer reports that all is well at the MTC. He is working hard to learn the language and is making progress. He can basically understand when someone speaks Fijian, although he still struggles with a response in the same language.
Conference weekend was especially great and the spirit was very strong - ten times more powerful than at home. Several general authorities and Sheri Dew have all visited during October. Again, Spencer reports that the spirit is ten times more powerful.

Halloween Night

Our crazy neighbors, Troy Johnson and his son Austin, were the highlight of the neighborhood fun. Halloween is Troy's favorite holiday and so he goes full steam!! This year he dressed as a mad doctor and Austin played the role of the unfortunate patient.

The trick-or-treaters had to approach the mad doctor's surgical table where he unveiled his gruesome deed. The children were then required to select a piece of candy, if they dared. Many times they were surprised to find the patient was still alive.

The pair wanted to make this scene as authentic as possible, so in the morning they went to the local meat market and purchased cow and animal guts. They then smeared the stinky stuff all over Austin to make the whole thing appear very realistic. Although, the strong odor from the animal innards made Austin quite ill and the duo was forced to use fake blood and guts - very disappointing, but Austin is feeling much better. It made for a really fun evening. We could hear the screams from little trick-or-treaters all night long!!

Ashelle, Whitney and Laura

Laura enjoyed the Halloween fun without any trick-or-treating this year. Instead, she did the high school thing and went to a fun costume party. Laura and two of her friends dressed up as butterflies.

Ashton Halloween Party

The "Flap Jack" Family

This year we enjoyed the Ashton Halloween party at Wendy and Neil Christiansen's home. Their home was decorated with all kinds of spooky Halloween creatures. We enjoyed a great spaghetti dinner complete with ghoulish bread sticks and fun desserts. The group participated in a readers' theater for "Twilight" and then on to a walk in the "Haunted Woods." The evening was completed with pumpkin carving. Thanks Wendy and Neil for a wonderful party!!
