Ingenious Gardener!

This year Dad had a goal to grow a beautiful garden. In years past, our garden spot has been difficult to water and grew quite the weed patch, but this year Dad conquered both those challenges with an ingenious solution. Dad is a person that is very creative and loves to invent things, from food inventions such as 'Spook's-Goop,' to woodwork like a house for a pet. Well, this creation tops one of his best...a specialized gardening irrigation system. When he first started the project, we wondered how it would turn out, but the finished product is a really impressive watering system.

Because of his great irrigation system, he now has a full grown garden with very few weeds. Impressive work Dad! He has been working very hard on the garden and his labors are definitely bringing in a harvest! Now he can enjoy the fruits of his labor! :)

The family made a quick trip to St.George this past weekend. A highlight of the trip was to see the 'Sound of Music,' Dad's all time favorite. (He has watched the movie countless times!) Above, is a picture after the show with one of the nuns. The rest of the trip included a bit of shopping, swimming in the pool and, of course, I hike through the desert in Snow Canyon!

Dad, Spein and Suppy livin' it up in the pool! Dad is great at cannon bombs and belly flops! (Nice underwater pics Spein.)
Hiking Snow Canyon in the heat of the afternoon.

Spein and Dad hidin' out in the cove. The picture on the right is of Dad leading the hiker's on their adventure through Snow Canyon. Dad even found a pond and attempted to catch a frog on the journey.

Good times!

All Bundled Up!

Aunt Sue and Janet made this beautiful blanket for Abby and she loves it! Thank-you!

Thanks Girls!

A few weeks ago, Mom and Laura came out to DC to help me with baby Abby. Before Abby arrived, we had a chance to see a few of the sites in DC. We had a great time shopping Tyson's Corner Mall, touring DC, walking the nature trails, and even hitting the annual Nordstrom Sale. I am very grateful for the help they gave me the last week of my pregnancy and when Abby arrived! I love you girls! Sorry you froze to death in my highly air-conditioned house. Good times!

Lincoln and Korean Memorials

While we were at the White House, we found a very unusual squirrel begging for food on his tummy. We had packed some granola bars, so Mom made an attempt to give him some of the granola bar. The squirrel liked Mom!

White House and Vietnam Memorial

Beautiful night walk by the Jefferson Memorial

U.S. Capitol and View of the Washington Memorial

When you're pregnant in the summer, you get hot real easy so my air-conditioning was always blasting. Well, Mom and Laura were very patient with the freezing conditions in my house. They had to pile their bed with blankets to stay warm at night. :) Poor girls!

When you're in a big city, you have to buy beautiful flowers off the street...it's just like the movies.
To end the trip, little Abby arrived on July 19th! Thanks for all of the help! Luv you! We miss you!
